Saipanda
Meet Saipanda!
It's the official tourist mascot for Saipan. There are places to get your picture with the Saipanda all over the island. The name "Saipanda" is similar with two Japanese words, sai=rhino, and then you have panda which you all know is the black and white bear. They then created this crazy creepy cute rhino panda hybrid. I LOVE panda's and had to get my picture with the famous Saipanda, so I found the biggest one on the island!

Celine
This is my quietest student Celine. Her smile can melt your heart away, and she is the most sincere student in the class. She is Korean and speaks very little English. However, she does understand a lot of what we are saying. She loves playing with the other girls, and she LOVES Hello Kitty. She is finally warming up to me, and beginning to talk to me a little more each day. Her mom eats lunch with her everyday, and she usually has a hard time when lunch ends, and her mom has to leave. Today though she came right up to me, and held my hand and waved goodbye to her mom with a smile on her face:)

June
This is June, my loudest, tallest, and most entertaining student. He is from Korea, and he LOVES to talk. He can talk a mile a minute, and he is very smart. I would have to say he is one of the smartest students in the class. He loves to pose for the camera when I bring it out, and he thinks its weird that I wear my headbands with flowers on them :)

Saipan Would LOVE Your Help!
These kids at Grace Christian Academy are amazing, and I fell in love with them INSTANTLY. They are such a great group of kids who deserve so much. However being here on a small island, resources are so hard to come by, especially for the teachers. I mean a box of cereal here is over 6 dollars, and the TITANIC on VHS is $37.99!
I am having my Mom send me a box of some fun prizes, along with some simple school supplies here so I can donate to the school, especially the classroom I am teaching in. These kids work so hard, and deserve the very best.
If anyone who reads this is interested in donating or sending some supplies this way, you would be helping them so much. Like I said before, something so simple as going to the dollar store and getting a few prizes, and school supplies would be so helpful.
The address to Grace Christian Academy is:
Caitlin Sindorf
Grace Christian Academy
P.O. Box 500643
Saipan, MP 96950

If you are going to donate supplies just remember to only use flat rate boxes! They're the cheapest and get here the fastest!
If sending something would be too hard, my Mom also said that you could mail her a check and she would buy and send my supplies.
Thanks so much! Just look at those kids faces! You can't say NO to them :)

Teaching About SNOW!
Today I taught an art lesson, and we made snowmen! But only 2 out of the 11 students have actually seen real snow before!
So before the art lesson, I gave a little power point presentation and showed them what snow really looks like, and what real snowmen look like. They were quite intrigued :) Here are some of their finished work and me showing them some snow pictures!

Million Dollar View
The weather here is FANTASTIC! It is 84 degrees and 90% humidity alllllll day long. My hair is loving this weather....NOT! :) I was able to sleep in today and then I went out to lunch with some ladies at Grace Academy. I actually was daring today and ate vietnamese food!
I then went to Grace Academy which has a "million dollar" view according to Mrs. Beth the VP here at Grace...what do you guys think?
So that's the view from the playground at the school, which I get to enjoy EVERYDAY :) I also got to meet my kindergarten class. There are 11 students and they are absolutely adorable! I can't wait to get to know each one of them, and start teaching!

I'M HERE!!!!
After a 24 hour plane ride I successfully made it to Saipan! I was greeted by a ton of people from Grace Christian Academy, which is where I will be teaching! They gave me this pretty lei and took me for a smoothie! I am exhausted and going to bed, but I will take more pictures tomorrow and update you all!
